This 17th century Château looks over the walled town of Cadillac. A large ceremonial castle built by the Duke of Epernon with a main courtyard and gardens, the interior has preserved decorative elements including monumental fireplaces, tapestries and painted ceilings. Bearing the signs of over 100 years of occupation as a prison, the property, used a detention centre for women inmates from the early 19th century to the 1950s, shows off its dual history as ceremonial castle and former gaol.
